Lighting Design
Biography

Ben Paul is a lighting designer from New Westminster, BC. He specializes in theatrical lighting design for plays and musical theatre.
Ben's designs are bold, colourful and playful. He draws on his strong intuition and eye for detail to create immersive and dynamic experiences. To meet his high standards for sharp and well-executed cues, he approaches the lighting console as a musical instrument to sculpt flow and paint the stage with light.
Ben's portfolio includes designs with Align Entertainment, Douglas College, School's Out Productions, Theatre Under the Stars, UBC Theatre, United Players of Vancouver and Western Gold Theatre.
In addition to design, Ben works in various technical and event production roles for the Massey Theatre Society, Royal City Youth Ballet and Patrick Roberge Productions.
Ben holds a BFA in Theatre Design from the University of British Columbia and a Diploma in Stagecraft from Douglas College.

"Speaking of lighting, Ben Paul’s extravagantly colourful design is also strong. He throws a purple wash on Deloris’s orange sequins in Act 1, and the effect is jewel-like."
